“Something Has Changed” is a book for 6-12 year olds when someone they love is seriously ill and dying. It can be a confusing time for a child when someone they care about is very sick. Written by our St Francis Hospice Social Work Team from their vast experience of working with children and families, this book will help to give children information about what to expect. It will talk about some of the worries they might have. The book is accompanied by a guide booklet for adults as they support a child or children during the serious illness and death of someone close to them. Thanks to sponsorship by Amazon Web Services, this book is available free of charge to anyone who might find it helpful. Shipping is free of charge to addresses in Ireland. Orders outside of Ireland will receive a downloadable version of the book by email. If you would like us to post a hard copy of the book please contact info@sfh.ie for information on how to pay the shipping cost.

  • “Finding your way through grief: For teenagers and young adults” is the first book in the Irish context designed as a resource for young people themselves to use as they navigate their way through bereavement and loss. This book was written by the social work team of St Francis Hospice Dublin in collaboration with bereaved teenagers. These young people speak in the book about what helped them in their grief, and we hope this will help others understand how grief can affect us and what can help. • On one side of the mask, there is an emblem featuring a dove in flight, which is a common symbol of peace and compassion. Encircling the dove is text that reads "St Francis Hospice Dublin," along with the values "Love - Respect - Compassion" and what appears to be a phone number underneath. On the opposite side of the mask, there is a series of smaller doves in a formation that suggests they are flying upwards or ascending, which could be symbolic of hope or the spirit. The mask itself has adjustable ear loops, signifying that it can fit various face sizes comfortably. This kind of mask could be used as a way to promote awareness or raise funds for the hospice, typically worn by supporters, staff, or volunteers associated with the hospice’s community.
