Our Funding and Impact
Our Funding
The Health Service Executive funds the day-to-day operational costs of the hospice under a Section 38 service level agreement.
Our fundraising team actively fundraise for support from our community, major donors, corporates, philanthropy and the general public. Those donations are used to fund major capital expenditure projects such as building redevelopments, equipment upgrades, and other innovative patient care projects.
To demonstrate our commitment to openness, transparency and integrity to donors and beneficiaries, St Francis Hospice adheres to the ‘Triple Lock’ standards (transparent reporting, good fundraising and governance), as published by the Charities Institute Ireland.
Our Impact
We supported 2,095 patients and their families in 2023.
We provided specialist palliative care to more than 1,500 people in their homes.
We launched our innovative Outpatient and Day Service (OPDS) in 2022, amalgamating the two services into one to better meet the needs of our patients. In 2023, OPDS provided care to 355 patients.
In addition, 628 patients were admitted to our In-Patient Units in Raheny and Blanchardstown in 2023 for symptom management and end of life care.
Our bereavement services helped individuals and families, through support and counselling, both during the person’s illness and afterwards.
Our Commitment to Improve Access
St. Francis Hospice is committed to improving access to our services for people with life limiting conditions. During the first seven months of 2024:
90% of patients referred to our Community Palliative Care service received a visit within 7 days
93% of patients referred to our Inpatient service were admitted within 7 days
