O God of all comfort,
Draw near to those whose hearts are broken
By this sudden loss.

When questions are many
And answers are few,
Let thy quiet peace descend upon them.

In the darkness of grief,
Be thou their light;
In their weakness,
Be thou their strength;
In their loneliness,
Be thou their companion.

Grant them grace to remember with thanksgiving
The love they have known,
Courage to bear the days ahead,
And hope in thy everlasting mercy.

May the soul of thy servant rest in peace,
And may those who mourn be held
In the tenderness of thy love.
