Walking the Camino by Michael Brophy. A soulful journey and a joy to read. In May and June 2018, at the age of seventy two, Michael Brophy walked the Camino de Santiago from St Jean Pied de Port in the French Pyrenees to Santiago de Compostela in north western Spain, a journey of some eight hundred kilometres. He walked as a fundraiser for the St Francis Hospice in Blanchardstown whose staff cared for his late wife, Rita, in her final illness in 2017. Read his daily diary of the fifty seven day odyssey written as a further fundraiser for the Hospice. The diary is a mixture of philosophy, poetry and prose which reflects the events of each day. His keen observation of the landscape and those that he journeyed with will make you feel as though you are walking with him. His use of verse throughout will give any reader pause for reflection, as also will his alphabet of personal learning which he gleaned along the way. This diary will make you laugh, it will make you cry. It is an absolute joy to read. So walk with Michael on his journey and “Buen Camino”, “Good Road”, the greeting shared by pilgrims and local communities along the way

  • On one side of the mask, there is an emblem featuring a dove in flight, which is a common symbol of peace and compassion. Encircling the dove is text that reads "St Francis Hospice Dublin," along with the values "Love - Respect - Compassion" and what appears to be a phone number underneath. On the opposite side of the mask, there is a series of smaller doves in a formation that suggests they are flying upwards or ascending, which could be symbolic of hope or the spirit. The mask itself has adjustable ear loops, signifying that it can fit various face sizes comfortably. This kind of mask could be used as a way to promote awareness or raise funds for the hospice, typically worn by supporters, staff, or volunteers associated with the hospice’s community.
