St Francis Hospice Dublin today formally launched the book “Finding your way through grief: For teenagers and young adults”.
It is the first book in the Irish context designed as a resource for young people themselves to use as they navigate their way through bereavement and loss.
This book was written by the social work team of St Francis Hospice Dublin in collaboration with bereaved teenagers, who speak in the book about what helped them in their grief.
Noirin Concannon, Senior Social Worker who led the development of the book, commented, "We have seen a rise in the number of young people requiring bereavement support over the past number of months. While there are numerous books designed to support children in their experience of grief, we identified a gap in the availability of books for teenagers and young adults.”
Thanks to support from Amazon Web Services, this book is available free of charge to anyone who might find it helpful. It can be ordered through the St Francis Hospice online shop https://www.sfh.ie/online-shop. Copies have been provided to each hospice or palliative care centre, as well as the public libraries in each county.
