St Francis Hospice’s 2020 Annual Report highlights the impact the hospice has had on the community it serves in North Dublin and surrounding counties.
The Hospice provides specialist palliative care to a population of 700,000 people. The service aims to help people facing a life-limiting illness to live each moment to the fullest with the best possible quality of life.
During the pandemic, St Francis Hospice adapted some of its approaches to care, and continued to look after the same number of patients and their families as in recent years.
Last year St Francis Hospice cared for nearly 1800 patients and their families, providing in-patient care, care at home or in nursing homes, outpatient/day services, and bereavement support.
St Francis Hospice Dublin is in the running for a Charity Impact Award 2021, which shines a light on the hospice’s impact and achievements during the pandemic.
Voting is now open and you can vote for St Francis Hospice Dublin here (https://a.cstmapp.com/voteme/917690/651540728) or through a link on the hospice’s web site (www.sfh.ie) before voting closes on Nov 3. The online vote accounts for 25 per cent of the judges’ score.
St Francis Hospice’s Charity Impact Award entry focuses on palliative rehabilitation, a service provided mainly by the hospice’s physiotherapy and occupational therapy teams.
The hospice’s video entry for the competition features the story of Aisling Keavey, 47, who is living with cancer. Aisling benefited greatly from palliative rehabilitation in St Francis Hospice, including online classes and support during the pandemic.
