St. Francis Hospice Blanchardstown
St. Francis Hospice is pleased to announce that in July 2009 the Hospice expanded its services with the commencement of the major development of a second St. Francis Hospice facility in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15. The Hospice will be constructed in one phase and will include a Hospice Day Care Centre, a base for our Community Palliative Care Team and the building of a 24-bed In-Patient Unit.
Construction commenced on site on 13th July 2009 and will be completed in early 2011. The construction cost for the new Hospice is €19.4M and we will be very much dependent on the ongoing support and generosity of the community to assist the Hospice in meeting the costs of this project.
Whilst we receive some funding from the Health Service Executive to cover ongoing revenue costs, we have not received any significant funding towards capital costs. In the current financial climate, it has been indicated that capital funding for the building of the new Hospice will not be available in the foreseeable future and we are very dependent on wider community to support us in any way that they can. The building of this much needed second Hospice will be a long term benefit to the community served by St. Francis Hospice.
