Hospice Day Care offers a Specialist Palliative Care Service in a Day Care setting. It can provide support for your physical, psychological, spiritual and social needs through symptom management and practical advice. There is a social aspect to Hospice Day Care; it offers a place to meet other people in similar situations. It can also provide respite for carers at home.

St. Francis Hospice Day Care staff are committed to providing a caring and supportive environment for you and your loved ones. Our role involves working with your GP, Public Health Nurse and Hospital team to provide you with the best possible care. We also provide support for families and carers through telephone contact, meetings and support groups.

Services
Hospice Day Care is staffed by a team of nurses, care assistants, chaplains, doctors, complementary therapists and social workers.  All members of the team are available to discuss any concerns you may have. A large number of volunteers also give their time and special skills to provide valuable support in a wide range of roles.

The Hospice Day Care Centre, with its comfortable lounge, art studio, various treatment rooms and a peaceful relaxation room, offers you a change of scenery and companionship for a few hours.

During your weekly visits, you will meet with a nurse to discuss any symptoms or concerns you may have. You can also choose to avail of some of the following activities:
• Complementary therapies, e.g. aromatherapy, reflexology
• Hairdressing
• Social activities
• Refreshments and a midday meal (special dietary needs are catered for)
• Pastoral care
• Recreational art

Attendance
Hospice Day Care is available to patients under the care of St Francis Hospice who live in North Dublin City or County. There is no charge and transport can be provided by our volunteer drivers if required.

Referral can be made directly to Hospice Day Care by your GP or hospital doctor, or through the St. Francis Hospice Community Palliative Care Team or Outpatient Service.

During your first visit to Hospice Day Care, you will be able to discuss your needs with a member of the nursing staff. Together we can develop a programme of care to meet your needs.

If you would like any further information or would like to arrange an informal visit, please contact the Hospice using the contact details at the top of the page and ask for Hospice Day Care.
